Experience the fantasy that comes to life as the Northern California Renaissance Faire travels back to the realistic Renaissance village of the late 14th through 16th century settled in the woodsy vale of Casa de Fruta in serene Hollister, California.
The Northern California Renaissance Faire is held at the family-friendly Casa De Fruta grounds every Saturday and Sunday from September 15 through October 14. Every guest will step back in time to Renaissance Europe and enjoy fine foods, handmade crafts, activities and rides. Hundreds of costumed performers roam the streets and act on five different lively Casa De Fruta stages. As the sun sets, the Celtic Rock Concert Series begins and showcases genre favorites. The exclusive concert is free with admission every Saturday at 6pm.
The Renaissance scene promises to have new and exciting additions this year for Faire-goers to enjoy in the village of Willington. Faire-goers will find a brand-new Enchanted Garden for guests of all ages, and the Dockside Alley will entice the 21-and-over crowd. Many of the traditional themes will still take place, such as the lively drunken festival of Bacchanal and the delicious feasts of Saint Michael.
During the festivities, meet and greet happy peasants, crooked constables, men in tights, and merry maidens as they fill the streets with revelry. Practice archery, axe throwing and fencing skills, and don an elaborate garland or mask. Treats include gigantic turkey legs roasted to perfection. Wear a classic Renaissance costume and stroll and shop around Casa De Fruta’s jovial and welcoming fairgrounds.
Children 12 and under will be admitted FREE entrance for all five weekends. Tickets are on sale now. Tickets at www.norcalrenfaire.com.
Casa de Fruta was originally started in 1908 by the Zanger family’s great, great uncles. Casa de Fruta's fruit stand on Highway 152 became a landmark and popular "pit stop" to many California travelers crossing the Pacheco Pass in Hollister. Casa de Fruta became known for its fresh and dried fruit and expanded its original 8 by 10 foot fruit stand over the years to include a gift shop, wine store, motel, restaurant, children's zoo and train in its orchard resort. In addition to the original Hollister location, Casa de Fruta can be found online at http://www.casadefruta.com, shop for fresh and dried fruits, snack and party foods, candy, chocolates, meats and cheeses, wine, nuts, hot sauces, gift baskets and more at their online store: http://store.casadefruta.com.
