Cherries Jubilee

From our orchard to your table

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 lb. sweet cherries, pitted
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 orange, juice and zest
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brandy or bourbon
  • Splash of water
  • Vanilla ice cream

INSTRUCTIONS

In a large sauce pan, melt the butter on medium heat.

Add the sugar, orange juice, orange zest, and a splash of water.

Bring to a simmer, stirring often.

Add the cherries and cook until soft, about 3 minutes.

Making sure that nothing flammable is near or above your stove, add the brandy or whiskey and tilt the pan toward the flame of the stove to light it on fire. If you don't have a gas stove, you can use a long match or a long lighter.

Let the flame die out naturally, and serve over vanilla ice cream.
